Moroccan Farmer Faces Lawsuit After Blinding Donkey in Brutal Attack
An act of cruelty towards a donkey in the province of Safi has sparked outrage among NGOs and social media users.
A farmer tied up the donkey after it intruded into his farm, then gouged out its eyes with a sharp object, blinding it, reports Telquel. The Moroccan Society for the Protection of Animals and the Jarjeer Mule and Donkey Trust association have filed a lawsuit against the perpetrator of this cruel act.
The Moroccan NGOs are calling for exemplary sanctions, including a prison sentence, and want the donkey to be placed in a shelter. The case has also attracted the attention of the media, such as Al Jazeera, and mobilized other animal rights organizations, the same source specifies.
