Controversial Rapper Booba Performs in Morocco Despite Backlash Over Offensive Comments

While controversy surrounds the arrival of Booba for a concert in Morocco, the organizers have decided to maintain the event. This choice opposes the indignation of a part of the Moroccans, denouncing the presence of the artist in the country because of his offensive remarks towards Moroccan women.
Ignoring the calls of activists on social media demanding the cancellation of the concert, the organizers persisted in their decision to welcome Booba. The situation has fueled lively debates among Moroccans, particularly following the publication of a photo of the artist proudly wearing the Moroccan flag on his arrival this week in Casablanca.
International media have also seized on the case, like the French daily "Le Monde", recalling that Booba was hardly welcome in Morocco, because of his insults towards Moroccan women. According to the newspaper, more than 4,000 people have signed an online petition demanding the cancellation of the concert, arguing that Booba’s presence risks reviving tensions and divisions within Moroccan society.
Despite this, Booba enjoys great popularity in Morocco. The French rapper has already participated in the 16th edition of the Mawazine International Festival in 2017, a concert that had attracted a large audience.
