Moroccan Farm Workers Face Alleged Racism and Discrimination in Southern Spain

The Moroccan seasonal workers currently in Huelva, in southern Spain, would be victims of racism. Acts of verbal and physical aggression are recorded daily and the authorities are called upon to react.
Less than a week after the departure of the first wave, these seasonal workers are already at the center of several discriminations denounced by the Democratic Organization of Labor.
In a press release, the organization described the mistreatment and racism that some Moroccan seasonal workers would suffer in the south of the country.
The organization cites for example the owner of a shopping center in Huelva, who has clearly forbidden all Moroccans from entering his store. Same observation at the level of certain cafes and leisure centers in the city, it deplored, specifying that if they are admitted, they had to pay double.
To recall, the Spanish government has committed this year "to intensify the efforts of the labor inspection during the harvest campaign", while granting "particular attention to the conditions of migrant workers". In addition, labor inspections will begin in February and will continue until the end of the season, scheduled for June.
