Moroccan Seasonal Workers Resume Berry Harvest in Spain’s Huelva Region

Nearly 12,600 Moroccan seasonal workers will work in the berry plantations in southern Spain, in Huelva, during the next agricultural season. The first arrivals are scheduled for this Wednesday, January 12.
Blocked since December due to the closure of the Moroccan borders, due to the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19, these seasonal workers will return to the Spanish agricultural lands.
The first contingent of 850 seasonal workers will arrive at the port of Algeciras this Wednesday, reports El Pais, specifying that 3,500 are expected for the month of January alone.
For this trip, those who have received their third dose within 14 days must present a PCR test before leaving for Spain. The other seasonal workers will have to justify a full vaccination certificate, it is indicated.
In addition, these Moroccan workers will gradually return from mid-June, with an exception from May for special cases.
