Moroccan Family Accidentally Leaves 10-Year-Old Son at Spanish Rest Stop During Road Trip

The Guardia Civil agents found themselves in a rather strange situation. A Moroccan family, residing in France, forgot their 10-year-old son in a rest area near Burgos.

According to the EFE news agency, a father did not notice the absence of his son when he had resumed the road to Morocco, after a short break at a gas station in northern Spain.

Abandoned on the spot, the child was taken care of by a truck driver, while he was walking along the A-1 motorway towards Madrid. The latter took him to the Guardia Civil.

Unable to remember either his parents’ phone number or the license plate of the car, the Guardia Civil elements had the ingenious idea of calling the child’s school in France to retrieve his father’s number.

Surprised by the negligent attitude of the parents, who had not noticed the absence of their child, the Guardia Civil elements, on the other hand, greatly appreciated the words scribbled by the boy to thank them for their care.
