Spanish ’Lord of the Port’ Drug Kingpin Arrested in Major Cocaine Trafficking Bust

The Civil Guard proceeded, on Saturday, December 14, to the arrest of a Spaniard, who was involved in the large-scale distribution of cocaine to criminal organizations in Colombia, Morocco and France from the port of Algeciras, in southern Spain.
The drug baron is a 54-year-old Spaniard involved in drug trafficking since a young age and nicknamed El Señor del Puerto, "the Lord of the Port", according to a statement from the Civil Guard.
According to the same source, the drug trafficker is a "person with the best network of contacts" who recovers the cocaine shipments upon their arrival at the port of Algeciras, located in the south of the Iberian peninsula.
This arrest is part of a two-phase operation. Launched during the summer of 2018, the operation was a resounding success. In total, 21 people, including ten agents from the port of Algeciras, had been arrested. Also, 480 kg of cocaine had been seized.
In the wake, the Spanish police arrested the "Lord of the Port’s" 32-year-old son. A sum of 710,000 € in cash, mainly in 50 € bills in shoe boxes, was seized. At the same time, 14 bank accounts were frozen.
