Moroccan Explosives Firm Sues Sefrioui Family for 10 Million Dirhams Over Property Destruction

EPC Maroc has sued the businessman Anas Sefrioui, and the members of his family Saad Sefrioui, Kenza Sefrioui and Malik Sefrioui, following the unannounced destruction of its premises in Bouskoura. Pending the finalization of the expert assessment and evaluation work, the civil explosives company is claiming a provisional indemnity for the damages suffered of 10 million dirhams.
In a press release, EPC Maroc states that it "has initiated several legal actions against the Iskane Land Company" following the abusive and unannounced destruction on March 29, 2021 of the administrative and commercial premises of EPC Maroc located in Bouskoura. In addition to these ongoing procedures, the company specialized in civil explosives for quarry work, mining industry and public works sites in Morocco has filed a direct summons on June 8 before the criminal court against Anas Sefrioui, Saad Sefrioui, Kenza Sefrioui and Malik Sefrioui, the document indicates.
As part of this latest procedure, EPC Maroc is claiming a provisional indemnity for the damages suffered of ten million dirhams, pending the finalization of the expert assessment and evaluation work. The initial partial estimate amounts to 67 million dirhams, only for material losses and thefts.
On the morning of March 29, 2021 and without prior notification, demolition equipment crossed the gates of the EPC Maroc site in Bouskoura and, without warning, began to destroy the buildings housing equipment and where 30 people were active, the explosives company reports. "The bulldozers thus penetrated without any precaution into a classified sensitive site and attacked occupied buildings, endangering human lives and destroying equipment as well as important legal and administrative documents," it recounts.
"This methodical destruction that lasted 48 hours was accompanied by savage looting during which equipment, technical documentation, including technical drawings and equipment, were stolen and taken away by criminals," adds EPC Maroc, noting that a psychological unit has been set up to support the severely affected staff.
