Stranded Swiss Family of Nine Escapes Air Canada Chaos with $14,000 Royal Air Maroc Rescue

A family of nine people, including two 1-year-old babies, visiting Montreal, was able to return to Switzerland via a flight from the national airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) after being abandoned by Air Canada due to the strike of its flight attendants.
Visiting Montreal to see her parents, Anne Noir, her partner, their two daughters and their respective partners, as well as her three grandchildren, experienced a nightmare when trying to return home to Switzerland. They were unable to return to Switzerland on Friday due to the ongoing strike by Air Canada flight attendants. "We suddenly had to accommodate nine people for an indefinite period because we didn’t know when we would be able to take the plane again," Anne Noir recounts in an interview with Journal de Québec. "It’s also not simple to feed all these people." There were no more available hotel rooms.
They had to stay in a small apartment. "We all crammed into a small apartment, at my brother’s, a three-and-a-half room. They’re already four, and we arrive at nine. We lacked inflatable mattresses," the woman explains, who spent "two sleepless nights" trying to find a return ticket. After that, they started looking for a solution to return to Switzerland. "Air Canada completely abandoned us, Anne fumes with anger. It’s: figure out how to get back home. We have no help!" They were able to obtain Royal Air Maroc return tickets for $14,000, involving a detour and a longer journey than expected. Although they were able to return to Switzerland, the refund for the cancelled Air Canada flights has not yet been effective.
"The service is terrible. We can’t talk to a human, only a voicemail that hangs up on its own," Anne denounces. She claims she will "never deal with Air Canada again."
