Moroccan Expat Detained in Marrakech for Girlfriend’s Suspicious Death

A lovers’ quarrel in the Gueliz district of Marrakech ended in the suspicious death of a young woman, an engineer by profession. Pending the investigation that will determine the causes of this tragedy, the victim’s lover, a Moroccan residing abroad (MRE), has been held in pre-trial detention by the public prosecutor’s office at the Court of Appeal of Marrakech.
It all started with a misunderstanding followed by a dispute and a fight between the two lovers, on the night of Tuesday, February 9 to Wednesday, February 10. The scene took place inside an apartment located in a residence in the Gueliz district. Faced with the violence of her lover, the young engineer ran to take refuge in the apartment across the hall, which is none other than that of her sister and a French national, reports Aujourd’hui Le Maroc.
After managing to calm the MRE, they went towards the young woman to make her see reason and discovered that she had thrown herself out the window and could not survive the impact. Informed, the police arrived on the scene to carry out the usual report. The MRE was arrested and placed in pre-trial detention, pending the investigation to determine the responsibilities of all the witnesses to the dispute that led to the young woman’s death.
