Moroccan Expat Arrested in Tangier for String of Commercial Burglaries

The Prefectural Judicial Police Service of Tangier proceeded, on Saturday, August 31, 2019, to the arrest of an individual aged 32, with a criminal record. He is accused of being allegedly involved in a case of multiple thefts with burglary in commercial premises.
The information provided by two night watchmen allowed the safety elements to apprehend the suspect. He resided in Spain before being expelled after serving a prison sentence for theft, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The suspect was apprehended in possession of metal objects that would have been used to break the locks of stores to commit these thefts, the same source specifies.
The investigation was conclusive: the individual is indeed involved in burglary thefts from stores, late at night, including one targeting a drugstore in July 2019. In the process, the suspect was unable to reach his goal as he had to throw the stolen money onto the public highway.
While the suspect has been taken into custody, the investigation continues with a view to seizing the loot from these criminal acts.
