Moroccan Executive Omar Barrada Named Manchester United CEO Following Ineos Investment

After British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, chairman and CEO of the chemical group Ineos, became the owner of a quarter of Manchester United, the English club has appointed an experienced Moroccan as CEO to replace Richard Arnold, who left the Mancunians in December.

Omar Barrada, 46, is the new CEO of Manchester United. He succeeds Richard Arnold, who left the Mancunians in December, with lawyer Patrick Stewart having held this position on an interim basis since then. This is the first major appointment made by United after the owner of the Ineos chemical group, British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, who is also the owner of OGC Nice, acquired 25% of the shares of the English club. This appointment is part of a major reshuffle.

Manchester United has issued a statement to announce the arrival of the Moroccan. "Manchester United is pleased to announce the appointment of Omar Berrada as the new CEO. The club is determined to put football and on-field performance at the heart of everything we do. Omar’s appointment represents the first step on this journey." The English club does not fail to extol the merits of its new CEO: "As one of the most experienced football leaders at the top of European football, Omar brings a wealth of football and commercial expertise, with a proven track record of successful leadership and a passion to drive change within the club."

Omar was previously Director of Football Operations at the City Football Group. He played a key role in Erling Haaland’s arrival at Man City. He resigned from his position to take up his duties at Old Trafford. An experienced man, the new CEO of the Mancunians has overseen 11 clubs on five continents. He also held management positions at Barcelona, which he joined in 2004. His involvement in football actually dates back to that time. Manchester United is counting on him to restore it as a title-winning club. "We are delighted that Omar is joining us to help us achieve this goal, so that once again United fans can see, in the words of Sir Matt Busby, the red flag flying high at the top of English, European and world football."
