Moroccan Executive’s Driver Surrenders After Stealing $700,000 in Company Funds
A senior official of an urban transport company in [Fez] was robbed of 7 million dirhams by his personal driver. The thief then vanished into thin air.
The incident dates back to last [Ramadan] when the victim had entrusted 7 million dirhams to his personal driver to deposit in the company’s bank account.
Unable to resist the temptation, the driver claimed a mechanical breakdown to seize the sum and disappear into the wild for several months. Moving from city to city, the suspect had become unreachable, except by his immediate family, writes Aljarida24.
After a visit to his family on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, the driver turned himself in to the police station. He was placed in custody, pending his appearance before the courts.
