Moroccan Election Tensions Rise as Parties Trade Corruption Allegations

The Secretary General of the Party of Authenticity and Modernity (PAM), Abdellatif Ouahbi, accuses the National Rally of Independents (RNI) of "flooding the political scene with money". Accusations that the RNI rejects, describing them as "slanderous" and "malicious".
In a statement, Aziz Akhannouch’s party "categorically rejects any attack on the proper conduct of the electoral process, likely to tarnish the image of Morocco, its regional and international influence, and the democratic achievements of our country".
The National Rally of Independents strongly condemns this irresponsible behavior of the PAM which is nothing but "the apprehension and anxiety of the author of these remarks in the face of the appointment of September 8 and in the face of the influence and dynamism of the party in all regions of our country".
The RNI stresses that "the seriousness of the accusations made against the party goes beyond the attack on its image vis-à-vis the citizen and the credibility of national institutions to directly violate the integrity and dignity of Moroccan citizens who we would like to take hostage to serve narrow political calculations favoring individual and selfish interests".
