Moroccan dirham gains strength euro currency May 2024
The Moroccan dirham appreciated by 0.1% against the euro and depreciated by 0.8% against the US dollar during the period from May 14 to 20, according to Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM).
During this period, no auction operations were carried out on the foreign exchange market, indicates the Moroccan central bank in its weekly indicators bulletin.

Official foreign exchange reserves stood at 466.8 billion dirhams (MMDH) on May 15, down 0.4% week-on-week and up 17.8% year-on-year, BAM reports.
On the interbank market, the average daily trading volume reached 1.7 MMDH and the interbank rate stood at 2.25% on average.
On the stock exchange side, the MASI fell 4.1% from May 14 to 20, bringing its underperformance since the beginning of the year to 3.9%.

As for the weekly trading volume, it remained virtually stable week-on-week at 1.4 MMDH, realized mainly on the central equities market.
