The Moroccan dirham falls against the euro

The Moroccan dirham depreciated by 0.7% against the euro and appreciated by 1.5% against the US dollar during the week of January 22 to 28, 2026, according to Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM).

During this period, no auction operation was carried out on the foreign exchange market, the Moroccan Central Bank said in its recent weekly indicator bulletin.

As of January 23, 2026, the official reserve assets (AOR) stood at 450.5 billion dirhams (MMDH), up 0.5% from the previous week and 21.9% year-on-year.

Regarding Bank Al-Maghrib’s interventions, they totaled an average of 144.2 MMDH per day during the period from January 22 to 28, 2026. This volume is divided between 7-day advances for an amount of 52.2 MMDH, longer-term repurchase agreements (53.3 MMDH) and guaranteed loans (38.7 MMDH).

On the interbank market, the average daily trading volume was 4.7 MMDH and the interbank rate stood at 2.25%.

On the stock market side, the MASI appreciated by 1.7% from January 22 to 28, bringing its performance since the beginning of the year to 0.6%.

As for the weekly trading volume, it increased from 1.2 MMDH to 1.7 MMDH week-on-week, mainly carried out on the central "Equities" market.
