The Moroccan dirham falls against the euro

The Moroccan dirham appreciated by 0.5% against the US dollar and depreciated by 0.2% against the euro during the period from January 15 to 21, 2026, according to Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM).

During this period, no auction operation was carried out on the foreign exchange market, according to the Moroccan central bank’s latest weekly indicator bulletin.

The official reserve assets (AOR) stood at 448 billion dirhams (MMDH) as of January 16, down 0.2% from the previous week and up 21.6% year-on-year.

Regarding BAM’s interventions, they totaled an average of 147.8 MMDH per day during the week of January 15 to 21. This volume is divided between 7-day advances for an amount of 57.8 MMDH, longer-term repurchase agreements (51.4 MMDH) and guaranteed loans (38.5 MMDH).

On the stock market side, the MASI fell by 3.8% from January 15 to 21, recording an underperformance of 1% since the beginning of the year.
