Moroccan Diaspora Surge: Over 600,000 Return from Europe in Summer Migration

One month after its launch on June 15, the Marhaba 2023 Operation has already recorded the passage of more than 600,000 Moroccans from Europe and 145,000 vehicles from Spanish ports to Morocco.

According to Civil Protection data, 440,174 Moroccans from Europe have embarked in one month from the ports of Algeciras and Tarifa, which represents 72.4% of the total (607,703 passengers). Of these, 337,332 Moroccans from Europe passed through the port of Algeciras to go to Ceuta or the Moroccan port of Tanger-Med, reports EFE.

Between June 15 and July 15, 145,513 vehicles embarked in the Spanish ports, the same source informs, specifying that 104,556 of them left from Algeciras and Tarifa, i.e. 71.8% of the total. In total, 1,405 rotations have already been made between the Spanish and Moroccan ports, including 2,083 from Algeciras and between Tarifa and Tangier-Ville.
