Record-Breaking Summer Travel: Over 275,000 Passengers Cross from Spain to Morocco

Since the launch of the Strait Crossing Operation (OPE) on June 15, nearly 275,000 passengers and 68,000 vehicles have embarked from the Spanish ports towards Morocco, according to data provided by the Spanish Civil Protection.
This operation recorded a significant flow of travelers and vehicles transiting mainly through the port of Algeciras (Cadiz), towards the Moroccan ports of Tanger-Med and Ceuta.
The port of Algeciras alone accounts for 57.7% of the total passenger transit and 65.3% of the vehicles. Close behind, the port of Tarifa, another port of the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA), accounts for 16.3% of passenger transit and 7.9% of vehicles. The port of Almeria, intermediate in terms of embarkation figures, with its links to Melilla, Nador (Morocco) concentrates 16.2% of passengers and 16.8% of vehicles.
