Moroccan Court Orders Airline to Pay 10,000 Dirhams for 9-Hour Flight Delay

An airline was ordered to pay 10,000 dirhams in damages to one of its passengers for a flight delay. This is the verdict handed down by the Commercial Court of Meknes.

It is an unprecedented decision. An airline whose identity is kept secret will have to compensate a passenger for a 9-hour flight delay. In total, a sum of 10,000 dirhams will be paid to the plaintiff.

When he went to Moulay Ali Chérif Airport in Errachidia to take his flight, scheduled to depart at 7:45 am for Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, he was surprised to find the aircraft delayed. The reason given by the cabin crew was a "technical problem".

It was not until 4:45 pm that the plane finally took off. However, the passenger missed the Casablanca flight, which was supposed to allow him to return to his country of residence, the United States.

This situation caused him inconvenience with his employer. He did not hesitate to file a complaint against the airline. In the Commercial Court of Meknes, a fine of 10,000 dirhams was ordered against the airline.
