Moroccan Court Grants Bail to Woman in Lawyer Blackmail Case

Despite the refusal issued by the investigating judge at a previous hearing, the Criminal Court of Casablanca has finally granted provisional release to the young Laila, prosecuted in a case of blackmail of a lawyer.
Initially, the young woman had asked her fiancé to recognize his child, born of an extramarital relationship. Faced with the refusal of the latter, who is a practicing lawyer, Laila decided to denounce him through a video posted on social networks.
Following the discovery of obscene photos of the lovers, the legitimate wife of the lawyer, who practices the same profession as her husband, in an attempt to avoid the scandal, filed a complaint against the adulterous couple, before finally abandoning the proceedings against her husband.
The young woman was arrested and placed in the Oukacha prison in Casablanca, following the complaint of the wife who, by renouncing to prosecute her husband, allowed him to benefit from the dismissal.
Moreover, the family court decided to postpone the paternity case to February 10.
