Moroccan Court Fines Cocaine Ring $150,000, Leader Jailed for 8 Years

The 4 cocaine traffickers were arrested during a large-scale operation carried out by the police targeting hard drug traffickers operating in the rural commune of Ait Youssef Ou Ali, under the Cercle of Beni Ouriaghel, in the province of Al Hoceima.
It is Aujourd’hui le Maroc that provides the information according to which the gang leader received the heaviest sentence, namely 8 years of criminal imprisonment accompanied by a fine of 2,000 dirhams.
The three others get off with, respectively, 6 years and 2 years in prison and a fine of 1,000 dirhams and 500 dirhams. In addition, the court ordered them to pay 1,540,000 DH to the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration, as damages.
