The death in Asse of a young Moroccan has caused great emotion, prompting the Moroccan Consulate General to take steps that allowed it to contact the family of the deceased and the Belgian justice system to obtain more details on this tragedy.

In its statement, the Consulate specified that the deceased young man is called Ayoub Ayoubi, according to a Spanish resident card found on him. Thanks to the contribution and information provided by some Moroccan nationals, the Consulate was able to reach the family of young Ayoub in Imzouren (Al Hoceima).

Having no information on the circumstances of the young Moroccan’s death, the Consulate General sent a letter to the Prosecutor of the King of Halle-Vilvoorde, requesting an investigation into this case which presents many gray areas.

While presenting its condolences to the family of the deceased, the Consulate assured that the steps will be taken to have the details on the causes of death in order to allow the family members to mourn.
