This benchmark ranking is based on a large-scale survey of 24,000 urban residents and a panel of 100 international experts. The study analyzes destinations through 44 distinct criteria, including gastronomy, green spaces, culture, and specific appeal to Generation Z.

For this tenth edition, the criteria have been deepened to explore the daily life of the inhabitants, in particular the sense of belonging, love and romance. Marrakech outperforms renowned metropolises such as Hanoi, Berlin or Amsterdam, in a global list dominated by Melbourne, Shanghai and Edinburgh.

"The result is a truly diverse and exciting list of destinations, deeply nourished by local perspectives," explains Grace Beard, travel editor at Time Out. The expansion of the survey to 150 cities this year has highlighted dynamic secondary cities nestled between the world’s major capitals.

The attractiveness of Marrakech is part of a trend where travelers now favor the pleasure and community spirit that define urban life. This international recognition confirms the city’s status as a must-visit destination for leisure stays in 2026.
