Moroccan City Plans Ambitious Skywalk Project to Boost Tourism in Todgha Gorges

The authorities of the city of Tinghir are preparing to launch an ambitious project aimed at transforming the Todgha Gorges, classified as an ecological, tourist and cultural site, in order to make it a leading tourist destination and boost the economic and social development of the province.

The project was at the heart of the discussions during a meeting held on Thursday at the headquarters of the prefecture of the province of Tinghir, attended by a representative of the Moroccan Tourist Engineering Company, the consulting firm in charge of the project, as well as provincial and regional officials. On this occasion, the mayor of the commune of Todgha al-Olya stressed the importance of this project which will make it possible to enhance the gorges and give them international renown.

During the session, the consulting firm made a detailed presentation of the project, providing information on the preservation of the site, the environmental characteristics, the securing of the routes and the improvement of safety, as well as the revitalization of the tourist areas.

The project notably plans the creation of a suspended glass platform, the "Skywalk", which will offer visitors an unforgettable tourist experience, as well as various adventure activities including zip-lining and bungee jumping, not to mention the implementation of a lighting system for the gorges aimed at transforming the site into a magical place in the evening.

The project also includes the creation of a leisure area comprising play and relaxation areas for families, a traditional market for the exhibition and sale of handicrafts and local products, kiosks of local culinary specialties, a club specializing in climbing, as well as an interpretation center of the local heritage highlighting the cultural richness of the region.
