Moroccan Cities Grapple with Growing Stray Dog Problem, Safety Concerns

Stray dogs continue to disrupt the peace of residents in several Moroccan cities. These animals, mostly unvaccinated, pose a danger to the population.
In addition to the nuisance they create with their continuous barking, stray dogs threaten the safety of citizens who fear being attacked by these animals. Animal and nature protection associations have constantly sounded the alarm on this phenomenon and called on local authorities to sterilize and vaccinate stray dogs against rabies, in collaboration with health services.
The opposition has also repeatedly alerted to the proliferation of these stray dogs in the cities of the kingdom, insisting on the danger they represent for citizens, especially children. In an oral question to the government, MP Hayat Laraïch, from the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP) party, stressed that the phenomenon of stray dogs is growing in the kingdom, causing fear and concern among the population.
The parliamentarian recalled that these animals, through their bites, contribute to the transmission of diseases and cause enormous damage to the health of citizens, as well as to the environment. This is why the official has asked what measures the government intends to implement to put an end to the phenomenon of stray dogs in the cities of the kingdom, in order to guarantee the safety and health of Moroccans, and to preserve the environment.
