Moroccan TV Channel 2M Revamps News Format to Adapt to Changing Viewer Habits

In an effort to be closer to its viewers and offer a program tailored to their expectations, the 2M television channel is innovating and announcing a new format for its newscasts (JT) on December 10. The goal is to better decipher and enhance information and new information and debate magazines.

A different way of handling information. This is what 2M is offering its viewers. This involves adopting a new approach aimed at strengthening one of the channel’s main missions: information, according to a statement from the TV channel. "The consumption habits of our viewers in terms of information have changed," explains Salim Cheikh, CEO of Soread-2M. He points out that conventional media must not be buried by digital platforms and social networks. They must fight, innovate in order to get their act together. "Our mission is now to enable them to understand all information, to validate it by confirming that it is not fake news or disinformation, and then to treat it in depth, to decipher it and to debate it."

The new JT formats will be enriched by new thematic sections and columns, as well as the presence of guests and experts who will be called upon to comment on and analyze the news. "All of our teams, journalists and technical teams are very motivated by this new challenge that strengthens the relationship of trust we have with our audience for more analysis and readability of the news," says Hamid Saadni, Director of Television News.

Significant importance will also be given to regional news, thanks to the mobilization of all 2M offices throughout the country. "Our ambition is to open new spaces for serene debates and to conquer new audiences by giving the floor to people who are rarely heard in the media," says Reda Benjelloun, Director of Magazines and Documentaries at 2M.

All these programs will be presented in a state-of-the-art studio, completely redesigned into a multifunctional space with a streamlined design, equipped with modern equipment. Through the overhaul of its information offer, 2M aims to accompany "the evolution of the media industry, but above all, to meet the expectations of Moroccan viewers who have trusted 2M for three decades," the channel’s statement said.
