Moroccan Cancer Survivor, 22, Fulfills Dream of Becoming Nurse After Childhood Battle

At 22, Zineb, from Khouribga, is proud to have realized her dream of becoming a nurse, after a fierce struggle, waged since her early childhood, against cancer.
In 2004, when she was just 6 years old, she learned the bad news from her attending physician. Her left eye is affected by an incurable cancer, requiring its total removal.
Due to the lack of an Oncology center in her hometown, Zineb had to travel the hundred kilometers daily, before joining the long queue that separated her from her appointment in Casablanca.
"While I was still dreaming of playing, I was exhausted by the daily commute. Due to the rudimentary means of surgery at the time, I had undergone an unsightly and unprofessional intervention," she recalls bitterly.
"The cancer had gone, taking with it a sensitive organ, a part of me. Despite this, I never gave up; on the contrary, it had managed to stimulate in me a great desire to become a nurse one day," she added.
