Moroccan Cancer Patients Launch Social Media Campaign for Free Healthcare Access

Dismayed and desperate, many Moroccans with cancer are making a plea for access to free health care services. In this sense, they have just launched on Facebook a campaign entitled "Mabgenash_Nmoto_Bsaratan - #مابغيناش_نموتو_بالسرطان" (We don’t want to die of cancer).
Many Internet users have shown sensitivity to this campaign by cancer patients. To this end, they intend to form a solid front to plead with the competent public departments, in particular the Ministry of Health, for the right of people with cancer to quality care, reports Article19.ma.
Meanwhile, some cancer patients have expressed their feelings through videos they have posted on social media. "I need to have a scan, but they gave me an appointment in 2021 while the disease is eating away at my body," laments the young woman, Rajaa.
In a long video, Assia recounts her troubles. According to her, despite the existence of health insurance or a Ramed card, this disease remains very expensive. "When the sick person goes to Moroccan hospitals, they are asked to have a radiological examination, on the pretext of its unavailability in the public establishment, and the patient is then forced to go to a private hospital, at an exorbitant price ranging from 2000 to 6000 dirhams," she said.
In Morocco, 200,000 cancer patients are taken care of and the number of cases recorded increases annually by 40,000, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health.
