Moroccan Buyers Surge in Spanish Real Estate Market, Rivaling British Investors

Moroccans residing in Murcia own nearly 25% of the real estate owned by foreigners in the region. Almost as much as the British who are the champions in terms of home purchases in the region, according to data collected in 2021.
Moroccans own 24.73% of the real estate acquired by foreigners in the region, while they represented barely 5.74% in 2015, says José Ramon Blazquez, the president of the Association of Real Estate Developers of the region (APIRM).

Despite a 26% drop in their purchases recorded last year, the British remain at the top of foreign buyers of housing in the region, reports La Opinion de Murcia, noting that Brexit is the main cause of this reduction.

After the British and Moroccans, come the Belgians with 7.2%, the Germans with 4.3%, the Dutch with 3.41%, the French with 2.70%, the Ecuadorians with 2.36%, the Swedes with 2.20%, the Irish with 1.83% and the Romanians with 1.74%.
