Moroccan Business Leaders Optimistic as Economy Rebounds from Covid-19 Impact

Even though the Covid-19 pandemic is not over yet, Moroccan business leaders are regaining confidence in the economy. 77% of them believe that the gradual resumption of activities bodes well for their turnover.
According to a survey on the effect of Covid-19 developed by the Moroccan Center for Conjuncture on the performance of companies carried out by the Eco Actu website, 27% of respondents consider that the situation has worsened. 11.6% of them say that their activity has increased compared to the beginning of the health crisis. Companies that have closed their doors represent only 1.6%.
This result is understandable considering that they were then working to adapt to the impacts of the pandemic, in particular the implementation of health measures, the deployment of technological tools to facilitate communication with their employees and their customers or to cope with interruptions in the supply chain.
The survey also reveals that the pandemic with its restrictions is the real factor in the slowdown in economic activities, for 47% of the entrepreneurs surveyed. Supply difficulties only account for 3.2% of this reduction. Loss of outlets is cited as the cause of this reduction by only 16.4% of business leaders.
Regarding the radical change in the work environment and its organization due to the restrictions related to Covid, more than 52% say that the effects and protection measures have a significant impact on the productivity of their companies. 27.4% find that the impact of these measures is moderate, while 11.3% believe that these decisions have not had any effect on the performance of their activities.
Despite this diversity of opinions, 77% of small and medium-sized enterprises believe that if the restrictions are lifted, the activity will return to its normal level. Only a little less than 18% say that their companies will sink regardless of the outcome of the crisis.
