Moroccan Boycott Movement Claims Success in Disrupting Israel Trade

The "Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement in Morocco", abbreviated as BDS Morocco, welcomed the success of its boycott campaigns, carried out in collaboration with other associations, against products from Israel and Moroccan products exported to this country, or companies that support it in the war in Gaza.
BDS Morocco rejoiced at the impact of its actions. The movement cites as proof the statements of the executive director of the Israeli company "Tomer" on the Israeli site "Walla": "The boycott in Morocco has made it impossible for Moroccan products to enter Israel. The BDS movement in Morocco is exerting pressures that affect the import of many products, such as couscous, sardines, olives and sauces. The total imports of goods from Morocco amounted to about $80 million in 2022, but it is now virtually zero."
In an open letter, BDS Morocco saluted "the great Moroccan people" for "their firm and principled commitment to the boycott, which has now become an effective weapon against the occupation." The movement added that its boycott campaigns have highlighted "the unity of the Moroccan people in their rejection of support for Moroccan companies that export their products to the occupiers of Palestine, thus confirming their constant position in favor of the rights of the Palestinian people and expressing their refusal of any form of cooperation with the occupying and genocidal state."
BDS Morocco also stressed "the need to persevere in the boycott in all its forms, as a means of popular pressure against the occupying state and against Moroccan companies that will only reap losses by investing in the Israeli market", adding that "the ceasefire in Gaza is a great victory for the resilient Palestinian people and their heroic resistance; but this does not mean the end of the mission. The struggle is still long to ensure that the Zionist occupation is held accountable for its crimes, to prevent it from escaping justice and to dismantle the genocidal and expansionist Zionist project, which has lasted for more than 76 years."
