Moroccan Group Files War Crimes Complaint Against Israeli Minister Visiting for Conference

The Moroccan Working Group for Palestine announced that it has filed a complaint for "war crimes and genocide" against Miri Regev, the Israeli Minister of Transport and Road Safety, who is currently participating in an international meeting in Morocco.
The complaint was filed on Monday, February 17, before the Court of Appeal in Rabat, according to a statement from the Working Group signed by its national secretary. The Israeli minister, who is due to attend the Fourth Global Road Safety Conference, scheduled for February 18-20 in Marrakech, is accused of crimes committed in the past and complicity, as a member of the current government, in the commission of serious human rights violations, including war crimes and genocide against the Palestinian people.
"The presence of Miri Regev on Moroccan soil constitutes a blatant provocation to the feelings of the Moroccan people, who have always supported the Palestinian cause and defended the rights of the Palestinian people to freedom and justice," the note said, calling on the Moroccan judicial authorities to take the necessary legal measures against Regev, in accordance with international and national laws criminalizing war crimes and serious human rights violations.
This legal action against Miri Regev comes in a context of widespread demonstrations against normalization with Israel in several Arab countries, including Morocco. The kingdom is also a party to the Abraham Accords in 2020.
