Moroccan Boxer Khadija El Mardi Advances to World Championship Final

Moroccan boxer Khadija El Mardi, world vice-champion, has secured her ticket for the final of the women’s world boxing championship, after her victory over Russian Pyatak Diana.
It was by unanimous decision of the judges that the Moroccan qualified for the final. Khadija El Mardi dominated the first 3 rounds against a tough opponent, but who could not withstand the blows of the Moroccan champion.
For the final scheduled for Sunday, Khadija El Mardi will face Kazakh Kungeibayeva Lazzat, winner against Azerbaijani Rzayeva Aynur. "My goal now is to win the gold. I’m going to fight for the world title. I want to fulfill my dreams and those of all Moroccans," said the heavyweight champion. "I would like to thank the coaching staff and the technical management for their support, accompaniment and assistance," she added.
Her compatriot Yassmine Moutaqui (- 48 kg) was eliminated in the semi-finals by Uzbek Fozilova Farzona. The Moroccan boxing team participating in these world championships also includes Widad Bertal (- 54 kg) and Rabab Cheddar (- 50 kg) eliminated in the 2nd round and the quarter-finals against Mongolian Munguntsetseg Enkhhjargal and French Lkhaddiri Wasila. The Women’s World Boxing Championships feature the participation of 320 participants from 70 countries, including Morocco.
