Algerian Boxer Disqualified from World Championships Over Hormone Levels

The International Boxing Federation, the IBA, has disqualified an Algerian boxer who was to participate in the final of the Women’s World Boxing Championships, which are being held in New Delhi until March 26, 2023. The boxer seems to accuse two countries, including Morocco without naming it, of being behind her disqualification.
In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the Algerian Boxing Federation said that Imane Khelif was not allowed by the International Boxing Federation - IBA - to take part in tomorrow’s final, for medical reasons. The Algerian boxer has an elevated level of male sex hormones, androgens, and in particular testosterone.
The International Boxing Federation - IBA - has often made such decisions concerning athletes. The case of South African athlete Caster Semenya is a perfect illustration. She has constantly been discredited because of her hyperandrogenism. Each time, she attacks the IBA before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Rather than doing like Caster, Imane, prefers, she, to cry conspiracy.

"Algeria has been the victim of a conspiracy by certain parties, particularly two countries, so that our flag is not raised and we do not win the gold medal," the Algerian boxer said to a media outlet in her country. Would these two countries be Morocco and Israel? Relations between Rabat and Algiers, which looks askance at the Morocco-Hebrew state rapprochement, remain tense.
