Moroccan-Born Midfielder Imane Saoud Chooses National Team Allegiance

Moroccan footballer Imane Saoud, who plays for FC Basel, has decided to play for the Moroccan women’s national team. While many thought she would choose to wear the colors of France, she has finally opted for her country of origin.
"The selection is always a great experience, whether it’s with Morocco or France. In any case, I wear the jersey the same. The two are my countries, and I’m there to make the countries proud, whether it’s Morocco or France. Whoever calls me, I’ll give myself just as much," she had stated to Taja sport a few days ago. In the end, her choice fell on Morocco.
She also explained the reasons why she opted for Morocco, which, according to her, meets her aspirations in the sports field. "In Morocco they want to develop women’s football and they are putting the means. The Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2022) will be held in Morocco soon (the final phase of the tournament is scheduled in Morocco from July 2 to 23, 2022). The country is preparing to host it and for the national team to be able to win it. Because it is qualifying for the 2023 World Cup in Australia," said the 19-year-old midfielder.
