Morocco Wins Over Franco-Moroccan Winger Hicham Mahou for National Team

Franco-Moroccan player Hicham Mahou, winger of Lausanne-Sport, has chosen to join the Moroccan national team, even though some had thought he would remain in France. At 22 years old, he justifies his choice by a call from the heart, a desire to defend the colors of a country for which he has a deep admiration.
With this decision, the player testifies to his attachment to Morocco, his ambition to bring his know-how to the influence of the Moroccan national team. "Morocco represents everything to me. It is the country of my origins, my roots, my daily culture. It is the land of my ancestors, so Morocco holds an important place in my life," reports Le360.
Even if he did not have the chance to go to Morocco as much as he would have liked, he closely follows the matches of the Atlas Lions. This is one of the reasons that counted in his decision. "I sometimes missed some of them, but I always look at the results. I always follow what they are doing. The winger position being particularly essential in Vahid’s system."
When asked if he was ready to face the competition within the Moroccan selection, Hicham Mahou replies that he does not perceive the thing in this way. "I would rather have said bring an added value to the team. This team is not lacking in talent, but with my qualities, I think I can bring something to the selection," he explained.
The Atlas Lions intend to make a positive mark at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. They are capable of it and are even favorites, according to the Franco-Moroccan player. "Morocco is on a good dynamic. We have a high quality team and I personally see them as favorites for this CAN."
But with Morocco, the right winger dreams of even bigger things. "My goal under the Moroccan jersey is to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. It has always been a dream for me to play a World Cup with the Atlas Lions and try to go as far as possible in this competition to show the world that Morocco is a great nation with a lot of very high quality players and a football country," he stressed.
