Moroccan Border Guard Dies After Attack by Migrant at Melilla Fence

A Moroccan soldier, attacked four months ago at the Melilla border by a Sudanese migrant who was trying to cross the fence, died last Tuesday.
The Moroccan soldier died from the injuries caused by the attack, after spending four months in the hospital, according to the Nador section of the Moroccan Association of Human Rights (AMDH). He had been attacked with stones by a Sudanese migrant who tried to jump the double fence separating Melilla from Morocco.
The auxiliary forces agents, permanently positioned along the border perimeter on the Moroccan side, are responsible for ensuring border security and deterring sub-Saharan migrants from entering the autonomous city. On the Spanish side, the Civil Guard ensures the same vigilance.
