Moroccan Billionaires Face Uncertain Future Amid Global Crisis

The latest annual ranking of the world’s largest fortunes by Forbes magazine indicates that the number of billionaires has been reduced by 10% in 12 days, due to the global health crisis. What about the two richest men in Morocco?
As of March 16, 2020, there are 226 fewer billionaires in the latest Forbes ranking. In total, 2,095 billionaires. The global health crisis is also affecting the world’s largest fortunes. However, 178 billionaires have, for the first time ever, made their debut in this ranking.
Are the two richest men in Morocco among these 226 missing billionaires? The probability is high, especially since the boss of Akwa Group, Aziz Akhannouch, and the CEO of BMCE Bank, Othmane Benjelloun, are in sectors of activity that are being hit hard by the coronavirus. E-commerce, teleconferencing and home delivery services are among the sectors that are experiencing success during this global health crisis.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos retains his first place for the third consecutive time, with an estimated fortune of $113 billion, followed by Bill Gates ($98 billion), LVMH boss Bernard Arnault ($76 billion), French luxury group boss Warren Buffett and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison ($59 billion).
