Two Moroccans are on the list of the 18 wealthiest people in Africa, according to Forbes. The American economic magazine has revised its list, which has gone from 20 at the beginning of 2020 to 18 in 2021 for a total fortune of $73.8 billion.
Aziz Akhannouch is ranked 12th among the 18 richest Africans on the continent, the same source indicates. The current Moroccan Minister of Agriculture has invested in the fuel and gas distribution sector and in other sectors (real estate, tourism, finance, etc.). He has a fortune estimated at $2 billion, thus surpassing the banker Othman Benjelloun.
The fortune of the boss of Bank of Africa of the BMCE group, RMA Watanya and the FinanceCom Holding is estimated at $1.3 billion. He manages the banking group that is present in about twenty African countries.
Despite the adverse effects of the pandemic, some large fortunes have been able to come out on top by further increasing their turnover.
