Moroccan-Belgian Rapper Soufiane Eddyani Detained Amid Sexual Offense Allegations

A video circulating on social media suggests that the Antwerp-born rapper of Moroccan origin Soufiane Eddyani, 24, has been arrested by the police and placed in detention.
In the video footage, we can see how Soufiane Eddyani is the victim of mistreatment from other inmates of the prison who call him "gay", "pedophile", "child rapist" and "junkie", reports Het Nieuwsblad. The Moroccan-origin rapper would have been arrested as part of an investigation for sexual offenses. He should appear in court next week.
After his first single "God Forgive Me", which was a big hit in 2016, Eddyani became famous with songs like "Back in Time" and "A thief as brother". "I don’t sing about expensive cars, alcohol, clubs and drugs. I want to convey a message, wake up the youth and make sure they don’t waste their lives hanging out on the streets," he had said seven years ago.
But the rapper’s popularity plummeted in 2019 with the release of the song "Amigo", in which he seemed to defend another rapper sentenced to six years in prison for child trafficking. After a small depression during the Covid-19 health crisis, Eddyani decided to get into the decorative fireplace business. But that didn’t stop him from releasing a new single "Je m’en fous de der more" in January.
