Belgian Rapper Sparks Outrage with Song Supporting Convicted Pimp

Released on January 4, the song "Amigo" by the rapper of Moroccan origin Soufiane Eddyani is causing controversy in Belgium for his support for another rapper convicted in a case of pimping of minors.
In his song, the rapper explains that his "friend" had no choice. "My amigo had no choice, he was broke, he had nothing to eat, his mother was in trouble," paying tribute to the rapper with whom he smoked "joints". But the controversy has led the rapper to highlight his friendship and not Moreno’s actions.
"A few years ago, he was convicted of criminal acts that I was not aware of at the time. I am very shocked by his actions and I totally disapprove of them. I live in the conviction that everyone deserves a second chance and that is why I want to support Moreno in his return to society. For me, what’s important is our friendship and not his actions."
Following the publication of this video, which has over 650,000 views on YouTube, the public radio and television channel VRT has decided to no longer broadcast this song.
