Marrakech Authorities Tighten Oversight of New Year’s Eve Villa Parties Amid Tourism Surge

As the New Year approaches, Marrakech is preparing to welcome a large number of tourists, both Moroccan and foreign. Bookings for apartments and villas, particularly in the peripheral communes of the ochre city, are on the rise.
Oulad Hassoun, Tassoultante, Al Ouidane, Souihla and Agafay are particularly popular, confirming a trend observed since the Covid-19 pandemic: the rental of villas to organize private parties on the night of December 31.
Faced with this enthusiasm, the local and security authorities are taking measures to supervise the festivities, reports Kech24. Mixed commissions, composed of agents from the local authority, the National Security and the Royal Gendarmerie, will be responsible for carrying out control campaigns.
Their mission: to search the villas and apartments likely to host unauthorized private parties on New Year’s Eve. The objective is to guarantee the safety and smooth running of the festivities, while preventing any possible excesses.
