Moroccan Authorities Launch Crackdown on Illegal Coastal Development in Dar Bouazza

The regional authorities of Nouaceur have launched a vast operation to free the public maritime domain in the commune of Dar Bouazza, precisely at the level of the Azemmour road.
This operation aims to demolish buildings erected without prior authorization, as well as those in order like service stations, private educational establishments, commercial establishments, etc., said sources to the daily Al Akhbar, specifying that the beaches of Tamaris and Dar Bouazza are concerned by this operation.
Influential people are trying to put pressure on the authorities to spare certain restaurants and bars on the Tamaris beach, as they did in March 2021 during an operation to free the maritime domain along the coastal strip between Dar Bouazza and Tamaris, citing the tourist aspect.
Luxurious cafes and bars on the corniche had thus survived this operation. Their owners have transformed the public maritime domain into private property over a length of about six kilometers on the Tamaris beach, offering all kinds of entertainment to their customers.
