Coastal Bars Defy Eviction Orders in Dar Bouazza, Morocco

Seven bars and restaurants continue to illegally occupy the maritime domain in the coastal area of Dar Bouazza and Tamaris, despite the formal notice addressed to them by the former governor of the Nouaceur province in February 2024.
The companies Baya Beach, Sunny Beach, Malibu Beach, Beach Balboa 1, Taloche, Atlantic Boulevard and Seven are slow to vacate the maritime domain in Dar Bouaaza and Tamaris, even though they were ordered in mid-February 2024 to vacate the premises within 15 days, reports Al Akhbar.
Local elected officials and actors in the Nouaceur province have expressed their surprise to see these bars and restaurants continue to carry out their activities on this maritime domain. The operation to free these beaches, launched since March 2021, aimed at enhancing the coastline of Greater Casablanca stretching from the beaches of Dar Bouazza to Mohammedia, seems to have been suspended.
These bars and restaurants had been spared during this operation, which had led to the demolition of kiosks and cafes illegally installed on the coastline between Dar Bouazza and Tamaris. The seven establishments have also benefited from preferential treatment during the recent large-scale campaign to free the public domain in the commune of Dar Bouazza, particularly along the Azemmour road.
Only service stations, private schools, shops and homes illegally installed in the area were demolished during this recent operation.
