Moroccan Authorities to Demolish 7 Illegal Beach Bars and Restaurants in Dar Bouazza

The authorities of the Nouaceur province have decided to demolish the seven establishments illegally installed on Dar Bouazza beach, which continue to operate despite the formal notices they have received for over a year.
Last week, the provincial authorities of Nouaceur decided to free the illegally occupied maritime domain at Dar Bouazza beach. Thus, seven establishments, bars and restaurants will be demolished, namely: Sunny Beach, Baya Beach (Les 3 Mâts), Seven Beach Balboa 1, Malibu Beach (Nomade Beach), Atlantic Boulevard, Taloche and Babaloo Beach.
"The previous suspension of the execution of these warnings by the provincial authorities had surprised citizens, elected officials and civil society associations, astonished by the governor’s retreat in implementing these decisions on the ground. This is especially true since the initiative to free the maritime domain from constructions that illegally occupy it is part of the project to enhance the coastline of Greater Casablanca, which extends from the beaches of Dar Bouazza to Mohammedia," reports the daily Al Akhbar.
"The execution of demolition decisions targeting these seven establishments is part of a vast operation conducted by the provincial authorities to free the public domain, particularly maritime, from anarchic occupation on the territory of the Dar Bouazza commune, more precisely at its beach," emphasizes the publication. Illegal constructions located on the Azemmour road are also affected by this demolition measure.
During a large-scale demolition operation conducted in March 2021, these establishments had invoked tourism investments to avoid their eviction. At the time, the Nouaceur authorities had limited themselves to razing the kiosks and cafes illegally installed on the maritime domain between Dar Bouazza and Tamaris, located near these establishments.
