Moroccan Authorities Capture Major Drug Lord in Berrechid Raid

During this operation, which took place in the early hours of the morning in Had Soualem, in the province of Berrechid, the suspect’s sister was also arrested, reports the website Rue20. In addition, significant quantities of drugs, including hashish, kif, "boufa" and cocaine, as well as smuggled alcohol, were seized. Three all-terrain vehicles and three motorcycles were also confiscated.

The arrested persons were placed in custody as part of the ongoing investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to reveal the circumstances and details of the cases in which they are suspected of being involved, before being brought to justice.

Last September, after 25 years on the run, a drug baron nicknamed "Limouni", a major figure in the cocaine trafficking between Morocco and Spain, had been arrested in Fnideq. Despite the prescription of several offenses, he will be retried for a criminal case for which he had been convicted in absentia to 10 years in prison. Limouni, who operated between northern Morocco and southern Spain, was supplied with cocaine in Ceuta and La Línea de la Concepción.
