Moroccan Artists Vie for Top Honors at AFRIMA 2022 Music Awards

In total, four Moroccan artists are nominated in several categories at the Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) to be held from December 8 to 11, 2022.
Moroccan singer Manal Benchlikha, Moroccan-Canadian star Faouzia, Franco-Moroccan singer Marwa Loud and Moroccan rapper El Grande Toto are the four Moroccan artists nominated for the Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) this year out of a total of 382 nominations selected in 39 categories. The first three represent Morocco in the "Best female artiste North Africa" category. Manal is also nominated in the "Artist Of The Year" and "Best Female Artist in Africa Inspirational Music" categories. Faouzia and Marwa Loud are featured in the "Best African Act In Diaspora (Female)" category. As for El Grande Toto, he is nominated for the "Best Male Artist North Africa" and "Breakout Artist Of The Year" categories.
With 134 nominations, West Africa is at the top of the nominations. It is followed by East Africa (69 nominations), Central Africa (52 nominations) and North Africa (49 nominations). A record for the latter since the launch of the competition. The nominations represent "where the African music industry is currently" in a precise and inclusive manner, commented Adam Tiran, a member of the AFRIMA jury, representing the Southern Africa region.
