Moroccan Air Travel Rebounds: Airports See 80% Recovery with 18 Million Passengers in 2023

At the end of last November, Moroccan airports recorded more than 18 million passengers, a recovery rate of 80% compared to the same period in 2019, according to the National Airports Office (ONDA).
More specifically, 18,467,415 passengers transited through the kingdom’s terminals during the first 11 months of the year, the office’s note indicates, noting that this level of activity is due to a total of 157,687 aircraft movements recorded over the period. This trend is equivalent to 82% of the pre-Covid period. For the month of November alone, some 1,914,705 passengers and 15,341 airport movements were recorded, the office added.
Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport, which handled 6,844,387 passengers from January to November, tops the ranking. In November, this airport platform recorded 664,351 passengers through 5,602 flights.
International air traffic, for its part, recorded 1,718,743 passengers during the same month, a recovery rate of 99% compared to the same period in 2019. For cumulative international traffic since the beginning of the year, the Kingdom’s airports have welcomed 16,514,080 passengers, a recovery rate of 81%.
Regarding the flows generated by domestic flights, they reached 795,962 passengers at the end of November. For the period from January to the end of November, this traffic reached 1,953,335 passengers, a recovery rate of 71% compared to 2019. As for air freight, it recorded a recovery rate of 74% at the end of November compared to the same period in 2019.
