Moroccan Aerospace Industry Plots Recovery Path with Government Support

The industrialists of Aeronautics and their supervisory minister reviewed the path taken by their sector, shaken by the health crisis, and laid the foundations for its development in Morocco.
This was on the occasion of the first working outing of the new Minister of Industry Ryad Mezzour, which he devoted to the Grouping of Moroccan Aeronautical and Space Industries (GIMAS).
On this occasion, the minister recalled the prime place occupied by the aeronautics sector in Morocco’s industrial policy and reiterated his willingness to support all actions that can boost its influence.
Mezzour also praised the resilience and responsiveness shown by the operators in the aeronautics sector during the Covid-19 pandemic. The latter have contributed to the dynamics of the sector, which has created more than 11,000 jobs since 2014.
"These are highly qualified jobs that Morocco has been able to train for, through an offer that guarantees qualified employment to students upon completion of their training program," he rejoiced, adding that this industry has more than 40% women.
Similarly, "Morocco has maintained the entirety of its production sites in operation and has even seen the launch of major investments despite the gloom," the Minister welcomed.
Looking ahead, Morocco also plans to strengthen the deep integration of existing ecosystems and fully develop the ecosystem already connected to the historic locomotive Safran and, most recently, to the engine manufacturers Rolls Royce, the minister stressed.
And to specify that "the first major mutation expected in the sector concerns the aircraft engine and environmental developments. Our ambition is to position Morocco as an important player in green propulsion and we will spare no effort to achieve this."
