Morocco’s Aerospace Sector Faces Headwinds Despite Recovery Efforts

The health crisis related to the Covid-19 epidemic has put the entire aerospace sector to the test, with orders in the doldrums. However, various means are being deployed by the State and professionals to promote post-crisis recovery and emerge from the turbulence zone.
Unlike other global professions, aerospace is struggling to recover, explains Aujourd’hui le Maroc, specifying that exports have shown a 6.6% decline.
Faced with the parliamentary finance committees, the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Administration Reform indicated that despite the support measures and the good performance of global professions, the sector is still in difficulty.
However, Morocco intends to boost activity, notes the daily, according to which the Oriental region is at the center of its new strategy. Several changes are planned on the Oujda-Bouarfa axis.
To this end, the newspaper recalls the government’s desire to make the kingdom the leader in aircraft recycling in Africa. The National Airports Office (ONDA) is working on launching a new international call for tenders as part of a contract for the design, construction, financing and operation of an aircraft storage and recycling center.
A first call for tenders had already been launched before the officials made a U-turn, preferring to take more time and introduce changes to the project, reveals the daily, before dissecting the immense benefits of this type of recycling.
